This week on Monday Night Raw, WWE brought in Mark Henry for a couple of backstage segments. He was seen talking to Drew McIntyre in one segment. In another segment, he was seen talking with Bianca Belair and Ruby Riott.
If you are wondering why Henry (and Ron Simmons last week) were on the show in random segments, it’s because they had plans for a big storyline but those plans have been dropped.
As noted last week, there were plans to do a reboot of the Nation of Domination with MVP leading his stable that includes Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin. MVP has been trying to recruit other names into the group in recent weeks.
Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that the plans for the NOD reboot have been scrapped.
Meltzer said, “The deal with Mark Henry was – Mark Henry and Ron Simmons were brought in for these tapings for the Nation of Domination angle that they scrapped. So I guess they just figured since Mark Henry is there, they just put him on TV for no reason.”
Vince McMahon changes his mind all of the time so there’s always a chance that he will go back to the NOD reboot but it looks like people in the company were able to convince him that doing a NOD storyline is not a good look with everything that is going on in the real world.
