NXT hasn’t been on the road since before the pandemic but it looks like that is about to change. Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that there’s been a lot of talk about taking the brand on the road again. Previously, they would do NXT house shows in small venues around the state of Florida.
“There is talk of them doing house shows again,” Meltzer said. Bryan Alvarez said he thinks they would have trouble selling a lot of tickets. Meltzer added, “I don’t know that they’re gonna be going to Detroit and going to Chicago and places like that. I don’t know that they’re not but I presume–I don’t know what they’re doing…I heard today that it’s been talked about more of late. They have to do it. You gotta give these guys and women matches.”
This would help some of the people who need reps because some of the people on the NXT roster are only getting to wrestle a few times per year. Meltzer also said there’s been talk of using veterans to help the younger talent.
Meltzer said, “There’s been talk about having some veterans there, which is funny because the veterans that were there like Ciampa and all these guys, they are looking at bringing them up to the main roster or cutting them, one or the other.”
In recent weeks, WWE has sent names like Matt Riddle and AJ Styles to help out in NXT. Last night, in a WWE.com video posted after Raw, they hinted that the Dirty Dawks (Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler) could be the next veterans heading down to NXT 2.0.
