WWE is high on Shawn Michaels’ work in NXT

Shawn Michaels has been running things backstage at WWE NXT events in Triple H’s absence after “The Game” had a cardiac event in September 2021. Before the event, the WWE Hall Of Famer was Triple H’s right-hand man in running the brand, but now he’s the one in charge at the shows.

In September, WWE decided to revamp the brand with the premiere of NXT 2.0. Dave Meltzer noted on today’s Wrestling Observer Radio that  WWE is currently very high on Michaels as they continue to grow their new vision of the brand.

“It’s interesting because it’s basically Shawn Michaels’ thing right now, is this new NXT. When he was brought in, it was never to be this. He was brought in to be a coach, but now he’s pretty much the guy, and they’re very high on him right now as far as his work. When they got rid of everybody that was Levesque’s (Triple H) guys, they didn’t get rid of everyone who was Levesque’s guys but they got rid of a lot of people who were Levesque’s guys. I knew Shawn would always… Shawn’s in a different… they’re not gonna fire Shawn Michaels, at all. That would beyond stun me. Especially right now because they’re very high on him right now.”

Although there’s no word yet as to when Triple H will be back full-time, he has made more public appearances as of late including a recent TV appearance.
