WWE is interested another NJPW star, the son of an all-time legend

Tama Tonga has options in his pro wrestling career as WWE has an interest in the longtime New Japan Pro Wrestling talent.

Tonga faced WWE talent and NEVER Openweight Champion Karl Anderson at Wrestle Kingdom 17 this past Wednesday from the Tokyo Dome. Tonga went over to win the title as Anderson finished his commitments with the promotion.

Fightful Select reports that WWE has internally expressed interest in Tonga. Per the report, the interest in possibly bringing in Tonga isn’t new, as word traveled through the NJPW locker room ahead of Wrestle Kingdom 17.

Tonga had an offer from WWE seven years ago that he turned down in order to stay with NJPW and team with his brother Tanga Loa. The two have remained in NJPW ever since, while several former Bullet Club stablemates jumped to WWE.

NJPW sources stated that Tonga’s New Japan contract is up in a matter of weeks despite just winning the title.

As previously reported, WWE has has an interest in Tama Tonga’s brother, Hikuleo. In addition to his NJPW work, Tama wrestled for Impact Wrestling, ROH, and NJPW Strong in the United States. Tama Tonga and Hikuleo are the sons of WWE legend Haku.
