Finn Balor has officially been traded from Raw to SmackDown, with the move announced on the international broadcast of Monday’s Raw from the Inalpi Arena in Turin. It’s a notable post-Clash in Italy roster shift, dropping Balor onto the Friday brand alongside Cody Rhodes, GUNTHER, and others.
The trade doesn’t pull Balor out of the King of the Ring tournament. He stays on the right side of the bracket, with a path through Jey Uso, LA Knight, and Royce Keys before any shot at the semifinals. The finals are set for Night of Champions on June 27 in Saudi Arabia, and the winner gets a World Title shot at SummerSlam 2026.
The jump ends Balor’s Raw chapter, where he ran with Judgment Day alongside Damian Priest, Dominik Mysterio, and Rhea Ripley. That group was one of the more developed heel factions WWE has booked in years — multiple title reigns, several major pivots, and a central role in Dominik Mysterio’s rise. SmackDown gives Balor a clean break from it and room to reset.
He brings a deep resume to Friday: the inaugural Universal Championship back in 2016, a long NXT and main-roster run, his Bullet Club founding role, a heavy Japanese wrestling background, and the Demon character he can pull out when the story calls for it. That versatility is part of why the move makes sense.
There’s plenty waiting for him on the brand. Cody Rhodes is set to address GUNTHER on the upcoming SmackDown after the controversial Clash in Italy finish, and The Vision’s situation is still shifting in the wake of Logan Paul’s injury.
The bracket as it currently stands:
Left side: Oba Femi (advanced); Dominik Mysterio vs. Bron Breakker vs. Trick Williams vs. Damian Priest Right side: Seth Rollins vs. Je’Von Evans vs. Talla Tonga vs. Ricky Saints; Jey Uso vs. LA Knight vs. Royce Keys vs. Finn Balor.
