WWE Officials Are Reportedly High On AEW Star

WWE officials are keeping a close watch on the contract status of several top names in the industry as 2026 begins to take shape. One particular athlete, known for his incredible physical presence and “powerhouse” style, has caught the eye of those in high places within WWE. Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that “There are those in WWE who are very high on Powerhouse Hobbs.”

With his impressive size and stature, Hobbs would be a big acquisition for WWE and could immediately establish himself as a top star in NXT. Although there are no specific reports regarding when Hobbs’ current contract with AEW is set to expire, the talented star would certainly have options when the time comes.

After making his televised debut in 2020, he quickly moved through the ranks, holding the TNT Championship and eventually becoming one-third of the World Trios Champions. He previously spent time in Team Taz and is in his current role as a member of The Opps alongside Samoa Joe and Katsuyori Shibata.

Powerhouse Hobbs most recently competed on the January 7, 2026, episode of Dynamite in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he teamed with HOOK in a violent Lights Out match. Despite a physical performance that saw the use of cinder blocks and steel chains, the duo suffered a submission loss to “Hangman” Adam Page and Swerve Strickland.

Currently, Hobbs is still recognized as one-third of the AEW World Trios Champions, having held the titles for over 266 days since winning them at Dynamite: Spring BreakThru in April 2025.
