WWE planning on big changes to pay structure, wrestlers to make more money

There are major changes coming to the WWE pay structure later this year.

As reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE talent has been told that new contract offers will increase when the new FOX and NBCUniversal deals kick in this fall. Specifically, talent has been told that contracts will be “way up from past deals.”

WWE is no longer relying much on house show business so the current pay structure where talent gets a downside with a percentage of the live gate and percentage of pay-per-view money is outdated.

There has been talk of a pay structure like all sports where talent is signed for a set figure and anything above that figure would be a bonus percentage of merchandise.

This is a great time for wrestlers because there are so many options now to make good money with New Japan Pro Wrestling, Ring Of Honor and All Elite Wrestling willing to pay more to sign top talent.
