WWE Raw Preview: Becky Lynch Vs. Liv Morgan Decides Stephanie Vaquer’s Money In The Bank Challenger, Roman Reigns Returns In St. Louis

Becky Lynch faces Liv Morgan on Monday’s WWE Raw in St. Louis to decide who challenges Stephanie Vaquer for the Women’s World Championship at Money in the Bank on Saturday.

Raw General Manager Adam Pearce ran through the card in his weekly preview video on X Sunday and added one match to it: Penta and Je’Von Evans against World Tag Team Champions Bron Breakker and Austin Theory. Raw airs live from the Enterprise Center at 8 p.m. ET on Netflix. It is the last show before Money in the Bank.

Lynch vs. Morgan

“We will determine a number one contender to Stephanie Vaquer and her Women’s World Championship, because Liv Morgan battles Becky Lynch live on the flagship,” Pearce said.

The match comes out of the September 12 live event in Santiago, Chile, where Lynch was the special guest referee for Morgan’s title defense against Vaquer. Morgan hit Oblivion and covered Vaquer; Lynch stopped her count at two, Morgan went after her, and Vaquer won the title. It ended Morgan’s reign at 147 days and gave Vaquer, who lost the title to Morgan at WrestleMania 42, her second run with it. Morgan has not had a rematch. Whoever wins Monday gets the title shot five days later in New Orleans.

Roman Reigns

“Between The 946 and the Bloodline and LA Knight, your World Heavyweight Champion, the OTC Roman Reigns, has a lot on his mind,” Pearce said. “And I’m sure we’re going to hear all about it live tomorrow night in St. Louis.”

Reigns defends the World Heavyweight Championship against Knight at Money in the Bank. Knight attacked Reigns with a BFT after the September 14 Raw in Mexico City went off the air, following Reigns’ title defense against Penta, and Reigns accepted the match. Monday is Reigns’ first Raw appearance since.

Money in the Bank previews

Two of Monday’s matches put ladder match entrants against each other.

Penta and Je’Von Evans face World Tag Team Champions Bron Breakker and Austin Theory. Penta, Evans and Breakker are all in the men’s ladder match. Penta took the spot that was meant for Solo Sikoa after The 946 abducted Sikoa before his qualifier on September 21.

Sol Ruca and Lola Vice face Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez. Ruca, Vice and Perez are all in the women’s ladder match.

Rey Fenix, the AAA World Cruiserweight Champion, faces Ethan Page. “You saw him run his mouth, yeah I’m talking about Ethan Page,” Pearce said. “Now he’s gonna have to back it up when he goes one-on-one with Rey Fenix.”

Analysis

LA Knight has to show up Monday. He isn’t advertised, but a challenger five days from a world title match doesn’t sit out the go-home show.

The bigger question is The 946. Reigns hasn’t been around since the attacks started, and the group has been built on laying people out. My guess is The 946 threatens Reigns and Knight is the one who comes out, not to save him as a friend, but because he needs Reigns healthy for Saturday. Something along the lines of “I need you in one piece for Money in the Bank.” It keeps Knight in the story without turning him.

Reigns taking a real beating from The 946 is coming, and it has to mean something when it does. That’s a post-Money in the Bank story, in the build to Survivor Series, or after Crown Jewel when the Survivor Series picture is the focus. WWE has done a good job with this group. The reaction on social media has been strong, and Jaida Parker’s involvement has given it another hook. People are invested, which is not something you could say about many Raw storylines a year ago.

None of that means Reigns loses Saturday. I don’t see him dropping the title for a long time. Survivor Series is shaping up as The 946 against Knight’s side, and Reigns holding the belt through that is the simpler path. WWE does this with Reigns, and it has worked before.

Lynch vs. Morgan has interference written all over it. Rodriguez and Perez are on the same show, and the easiest way to keep everyone in the story is a finish that gets both women into Saturday. A triple threat with Vaquer is the likely result, and Vaquer keeps the title either way. She won it three weeks ago, and WWE isn’t taking it back off her yet.

WWE is getting its stories in order. SmackDown drew praise this week for the writing and the in-ring work, and some of the performers who needed help are getting better. Monday should be a good show. What happens between The 946 and Roman Reigns is the part to watch.
