Dominik Mysterio will challenge El Grande Americano for the AAA Mega Championship at Heroes Inmortales on Saturday, October 24, at Gimnasio OlÃmpico Juan de la Barrera in Mexico City. It is one of three championship matches now set for the show.
Mysterio earned the rematch on the October 3 edition of AAA on Fox, which Lucha Libre AAA also used to announce the Trios and Cruiserweight title matches. He and Omos beat El Grande Americano and AAA General Manager Rey Mysterio in the main event, with the stipulation that a win would get Dominik a title shot. Dominik pulled off his father’s mask, then hit Americano with the Mega Championship belt while the referee was not looking and won the match.

El Grande Americano won the Mega Championship from Mysterio on night two of Triplemania 34 on September 13 at Arena CDMX in Mexico City. Rey Mysterio, AAA’s general manager, counted the deciding pin after the assigned referee was knocked down. That was the basis for the match on Saturday: Dorian Roldán opened the show demanding that Rey reverse the result and return the title to Dominik.
“Answer one question. Were you the official referee, yes or no?” Roldán asked. When Rey answered that he oversees all referees as general manager, Roldán said, “Your answer is no. And since you didn’t have a referee license endorsed by the Lucha Libre Commission of Mexico City, if you don’t reverse your decision and recognize that the champion of this company and the true Mega Champion is Dominik Mysterio, I am going to take legal action against you.”
Americano answered with the tag match and the stipulation.
Los Perros del Mal, Daga, Angel and Berto, will defend the AAA World Trios Championship against AAA Latin American Champion La Parka, Mr. Iguana and Niño Hamburguesa.
Rey Fenix will defend the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship against the winner of a four-way No. 1 contender’s match on the October 10 AAA on Fox between Nobu San of the Tokyo Boys, Mini Vikingo, Jack Cartwheel and Joaquin Wilde. Fenix retained the title at Triplemania 34 against Cartwheel, Mini Vikingo and Nathan Frazer.
Marisela Peña, sister of AAA founder Antonio Peña, will also be inducted into the AAA Hall of Fame. Heroes Inmortales is held each year in Antonio Peña’s memory; he died in 2006. Mysterio headlined last year’s show, defending the Mega Championship against Dragon Lee.
