WWE reaches deal with MLW for rights to WarGames concept

WWE has reached a deal to acquire the rights to WarGames from Major League Wrestling.

PWInsider confirmed the story with multiple sources and we independently confirmed the story this morning.

MLW used the WarGames concept during their initial run in 2003 and surprisingly, WWE never registered the trademark when they purchased WCW. Several years later, MLW filed for the trademark and they brought the double-ring cage for an event in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida that took place last September.

WWE brought back the concept in November 2017 for an NXT Takeover event but learned that MLW had already trademarked the name. WWE moved forward with plans and later worked out the deal with MLW.

Going forward, MLW will not be using the WarGames concept.
