WWE said to be very interested in top independent star

Once again, WWE is showing interest in WALTER, the Austrian pro wrestler who has seen his stock rise in the past year in Europe and for promotions like PWG.

It was reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his name came up several times this week in WWE and the belief is that talks were getting serious between both sides.

WWE showed interest in him earlier this year around the same time they were showing interest in Keith Lee. However, WALTER had an employee contract with wXw in Germany and he didn’t want to be home for long periods of time.

That is the reason a deal with WWE was not worked out and why he didn’t work for New Japan Pro Wrestling. He does work on some U.S. shows but nowhere near full-time. People in WWE see value in him as a talented big guy and the latest idea is to sign him under a U.K. style deal that would allow him to continue to work for wXw and other European indies.

Basically, if he accepts, the plan is to use him similar to how they use Tyler Bate and Pete Dunne. They are flown to NXT tapings but they primarily work in Europe.
