A new NCAA standout has made the leap to full-time professional wrestling training. WWE has signed Nebraska Track and Field star Meghan Walker, 21, to a full-time developmental contract, according to PWInsiderElite.com.
Walker had previously been part of the WWE’s “Next In Line” (NIL) program, where college athletes partner with the company to explore a future in wrestling while still completing their collegiate careers. PWInsiderElite.com was informed that her new deal is a WWE Performance Center/NXT deal.
Walker, a two-time South Dakota state champion sprinter, was a member of the fifth class of WWE NIL athletes announced on June 7, 2025. This program, launched in 2021, has served as a direct pipeline from collegiate athletics into WWE’s developmental system, producing successful NXT talents.
WWE’s NIL athletes often receive developmental contracts upon completing their collegiate eligibility, giving them exclusive access to the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, and resources across the organization for brand building, media training, and creative writing.
Walker, who was scouted from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, follows in the footsteps of countless stars including former women’s champion Bianca Belair, who was a former track and field athlete. The NXT brand is currently building toward its final Premium Live Event of the year, NXT Deadline, which is set for Saturday, December 6, in San Antonio, Texas.
