WWE Star Returning to In-Ring Action for the First Time in Over a Year

One WWE star is making a return to in-ring action when WWE holds its WWE Superstar Spectacle at the GMC Balayogi Indoor Stadium (Gachibowli Indoor Stadium) on Friday, making it the first WWE event in the country since 2017

WWE Tag Team Champions Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens taking on Indus Sher in a non-title match, John Cena teaming with World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins against Ludwig Kaiser & Giovanni Vinci of Imperium are the top two matches, and Natalya challenging Rhea Ripley for the World Women’s Title are the only matches advertised for the show.

Because WWE is brought in by India television partner, it won’t be streamed live on the WWE Network or Peacock as it’s exclusive to the India market. WWE is bringing in a former star for the event

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that one WWE star who has been sidelined for over a year will return to action at the show, and that’s Shanky.

In 2021, he was paired with Veer on the main roster after making his WWE debut at WWE Superstar Spectacle 2021. They worked tag team matches until he was split off with Jinder Mahal while Veer went to NXT. His last match was a tag team loss alongside Mahal to the Viking Raiders on the July 22, 2022 episode of SmackDown, as Mahal was sidelined before returning to NXT.

Meltzer wrote, “Shanky, who hasn’t wrestled in 14 months, some of that period due to injury and the rest because they haven’t brought him back, will be working the show.”
