Undisputed WWE Champion CM Punk vs. Cody Rhodes took place at the WWE SummerSlam Premium Live Event from U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
It was a slow start with both guys getting the upperhand. Cody tossed him to the floor and hit an outside dive. Cody targeted the left knee of Punk. Punk fought back and hit a powerslam then went to the top rope. Rhodes cut him off and they battled on the top rope. Punk tossed him off the top rope and hit an elbow drop for 2. Punk went for the GTS, but Rhodes fought out of it and hit the cody cutter for 2. They did some reversals and Cody avoided the GTS and locked in the figure four leg lock. Punk got out of it by switching it and then rolled to the ropes. Punk put him in the anaconda device only for Cody to get to the ropes. Cody went for the alabama slam, but Punk got out of it and put him back in the anaconda device. Cody got out of it and they bridged up where Cody hit him with the cross rhodes for 2. Punk with a moonsault off the top rope for 2. Punk with a GTS and Cody rolled out of the ring. They brawled to the floor before getting back in the ring and Punk hit a GTS to Cody for 2. Punk put Cody on the announce table and went for an elbow drop off the top rope, but Cody moved and Punk crashed through the table. Cody went for a cutter, but accidentally took out the referee. Punk hit the GTS to Cody and Cody fell on Punk, but Cody got out of it and hit the cross rhodes and Punk rolled out of the ring. Randy Orton ran through the crowd and hit an RKO to Cody. Punk with the GTS to Rhodes for the win.
