When the Gift Of Jericho returned out of the blue on Tuesday night a ton of people marked out hard. Even though Y2J has been touring like a rock star for the past couple of months with Fozzy, he never forgot how to tear it down as a WWE Superstar.
Jericho came up short in his match and was pinned by AJ Styles but people were still impressed with the match’s overall quality. If Jericho had any ring rust on him it was hard to find. He might not have been doing as much DDP Yoga on the road as he did when he was working for WWE full-time, but Y2J could still go.
The Ayatollah of Rock n Rolla sent out a message to fans after the match thanking them for their unwavering support. He also said he’d see us again soon. It was a really special appearance, even if this was just a one-off showing.
If anything, Jericho was involved in AJ Styles reclaiming the US Title and that was indeed a special moment. Without Jericho’s insertion into the match AJ or Kevin would have risked losing heat in any type of a rematch scenario. Jericho can get pinned and go off into the sunset for a little bit and not lose any real estate value. Then again, we could always be seeing Chris again sooner than we think because Jericho is becoming known for his surprise appearances at this point.
