Air Canada Centre – Toronto, ON

We are live with ongoing WWE Smackdown Live coverage. This week’s show will be headlined by a grudge match between WWE Champion Jinder Mahal and Randy Orton.

Opening segment

John Cena kicked off the show with an in-ring promo. Cena put over his match with Shinsuke Nakamura’s match from last week. He was interrupted by Baron Corbin. Corbin has new entrance music. You can hear his new theme song by clicking here. Corbin said that he is the future of WWE and he has no problem making Cena part of the past. Cena called Corbin a skinny fat overrated dumpster fire just like it was written on a sign in the crowd and then offered to fight but Corbin didn’t think it was worth him. Just as Corbin was walking to backstage area, Daniel Bryan came out and announced that Corbin must face Cena at SummerSlam.

They cut backstage and showed The Usos walking. They are up next.

The Usos vs. Tye Dillinger and Sami Zayn

JBL mentioned “Bizarro Land” because they are in Toronto. As noted earlier, the “Bizarro World” and “Bizarro Land” lines are fed to the announcers by Vince McMahon. Good match. The Usos got the win after Jimmy Uso made Dillinger submit to the Tequila Sunrise. The Usos cut a promo in the ring after the match. At the SummerSlam, they promised to capture the Smackdown Tag Team Championships. Big E appeared in the entrance way and the distraction allowed Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods to ambush The Usos from behind. Jey Uso saved his brother just as he was about to get hit with a chair.

Fashion Peaks segment aired. Fandango said that aliens abducted him. Arn Anderson made a cameo and admitted to destroying Tully the horse because any moron knows that he (Arn) was the hoss of that group. Arn stole some doughnuts before leaving the room. To be continued…

Charlotte Flair came out for her match.

Charlotte Flair vs. Lana

Flair treated the match as a joke. It was an easy victory as she got the win by submission.

Shane McMahon was shown walking backstage. He is up next.

Shane McMahon, Kevin Owens, AJ Styles segment

Shane McMahon came out and introduced AJ Styles and Kevin Owens. Owens came off like a babyface when he mentioned that another Canadian was screwed over by another McMahon. Fans cheered that until Owens said that he (Bret Hart) deserved it. Owens is not worried though because he remembers the vicious beating that Styles laid down on McMahon last March. Styles admits that he was initially not happy about Shane being the special referee at SummerSlam but he knows that Owens is trying to stir the pot and it’s not working. Styles said that if he gets screwed then Shane will have to face repercussions just like he did at WrestleMania. Styles said that he doesn’t trust anybody, especially a McMahon. Shane said that he doesn’t operate like other family members. Owens showed video of Shane screwing Stone Cold out of the WWE Championship at Survivor Series 1998. Shane said that he will not get involved at SummerSlam unless he is given a reason. Styles offered to fight Owens right now for the United States Championship but Owens declined and said that he would rather win the title in the United States, in a city that actually matters. Styles said “this” is the closest you will get to the United States Championship. Owens nailed Styles with a cheap shot and Styles followed up with a Pele kick but he accidentally hit Shane in the head as Ownes walked away with a smile on his face.

Commercial break.

Backstage segment with Tamina and Lana. Lana has had her chances to challenge for the Smackdown Women’s Championship and Tamina now wants Lana to help her get her opportunity.

Carmella vs. Naomi

Natalya watched the match from the backstage area. James Ellsworth appeared from under the ring and caused a distraction (he pushed her leg off the top rope) that allowed Carmella to win.

Commercial break.

Backstage, Natalya warned Carmella and Ellsworth to stay out of her business at SummerSlam.

They cut to a pre-taped interview. Renee interviewed Shinsuke Nakamura. He talked about his Smackdown Live debut in April. He put over John Cena and said that he could not describe what it was like to be in the same ring with John Cena last week. He will be watching tonight’s match between Mahal and Orton and he promises to win the title at SummerSlam.

Commercial break.

Randy Orton vs. Jinder Mahal

Nakamura watched the match from the backstage area. Mahal got a lot of cheers from the crowd in Toronto because he is from Calgary. Orton got the win by countering the Colussus with the RKO. It was a clean pinfall. I guess we’ll get another Orton vs. Mahal match for the title in the future?

Just as they were going off the air, Rusev nailed Orton with a kick to the face.
