Opening segment

The show kicked off with The Miz and The Miztourage in the ring. Jerry “The King” Lawler filled in for Booker T, who is stuck in Houston because of the hurricane. Kurt Angle came out before Miz could start talking. Angle announced that next week, Miz will defend the IC title against the winner of a battle royal that is taking place tonight.

Battle Royal – winner challenges The Miz next week for the Intercontinental title

The Big Show was the first man to come out for the battle royal. Show looks 20 years younger with a clean shave. Other names in the battle royal included: The Hardy Boyz, The Miztourage, Finn Balor, Jason Jordan, Curt Hawkins, Kalisto, Apollo Crews, R-Truth, Luke Gallow, Karl Anderson, and Goldust. During the last few minutes, Balor and Jeff Hardy faced off but the lights went out, Bray Wyatt appeared, and he eliminated Balor. Earlier, Gallows and Anderson eliminated Matt Hardy and then attacked him at ringside. Hardy, Elias, and Jordan were the final three men in the ring. It was down to Hardy and Jordan. Hardy eliminated Jordan so he will challenge The Miz next week.

John Cena/Roman Reigns contract signing for WWE No Mercy

Kurt Angle was in the ring when they returned from commercial and he introduced the participants. Click here for more details (and a full recap) on this segment. It was tremendous. There were some very shoot-like comments made. They both signed the contract and then they were interrupted by Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson. That led to a match.

Roman Reigns and John Cena vs. Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson

Cena worked most of the match but Reigns stole Cena’s thunder by getting the win on Anderson with spear just as Cena was hitting the Attitude Adjustment on Gallows.

Elias did his usual in-ring promo. He blamed the fans for his elimination earlier in the battle royal. He said that a long time ago, Dusty Rhodes called him Elvis. Elias decided to sing a song to the fans in Memphis. He basically called the fans rotten but The King of Memphis himself, Jerry “The King” Lawler took offense to that. Lawler grabbed the mic and walked towards the stage area. He said that Elias is not that bad at singing but the WWE Universe in Memphis doesn’t appreciate the lyrics. Lawler introduced someone from Southpaw Regional Wrestling…Pelvis Wesley (Heath Slater dressed up as Elvis). Slater tried to get Elias to dance but he was attacked and hit Slater with the Drift Away finisher.

Sasha Banks vs. Alexa Bliss – Raw Women’s Championship

The Raw Women’s Championship match is the main event for this week. This was a good match and a nice way to end the show. Bliss won the title with the DDT. New Champ! Nia Jax came out to celebrate. She took out Banks and then hoisted Bliss on her shoulders but then she turned on her and dropped her back-first. Jax then held up the title and then walked to the back. So, it looks like Jax will challenge her for the title at No Mercy.
