Talks between GFW and Rey Mysterio are now dead

If you are looking to see Rey Mysterio on TV in the near future, then you might have to wait a little bit longer because, as first reported by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the Mysterio-GFW talks are no longer taking place.

Mysterio is heavily involved with The Crash promotion in Tijuana, Mexico. There have been several issues between GFW and The Crash as of late, which is interesting because Konnan is the head of creative for The Crash. Some of the issues go back several months. One of the issues was when GFW agreed to send Bobby Lashley to work a show in Tijuana. The Crash got all of his paperwork in order only to have GFW/Impact change him at the last minute with James Storm.

Also, Jeff Jarrett had agreed to lose his hair to Mysterio at a show in Tijuana later this year but then Jarrett, without warning, announced a deal with GFW and AAA and then worked at Triplemania. For those of you that don’t know, there is bad blood between people in The Crash and AAA.

At one point, there was talk of getting Mysterio in for Bound For Glory as a surprise opponent for Alberto El Patron. When negotiations fell through, then the idea changed to El Patron vs. Jarrett but it does not look like that will happen since Jarrett is now on an indefinite leave of absence.

As of today, there is no word what El Patron will be doing at Bound For Glory but Ed Nordholm made it clear on Friday during an interview on Wrestling Observer Radio that El Patron will be returning soon.
