It looks like all those people who bought up tickets to the New Japan Pro Wrestling show in Long Beach have a great reason to be excited right now. Because Rey Mysterio is set to wrestle his first match for NJPW at the Strong Style Evolved event on March 25th. While issuing a challenge to Jushin “Thunder” Liger, he proposed a legend vs legend match which was soon accepted by Liger who happened to be doing commentary for the event.
This won’t be the first time these two have met in the ring as it has been decades since we last saw them in a one-on-one encounter at Starrcade 1996 where Liger won. But it is certainly going to be an amazing performance.
Rey Mysterio recently said, “there’s a big possibility I will be back in WWE,” but it looks like he might have already made plans to check NJPW off his bucket list first. After all, The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported Mysterio already had commitments all over the world. Either way, the match is set for March 25th and the pro wrestling world has been lit on fire once again thanks to the goings-on in New Japan Pro Wrestling.
