Reason why piledrivers are banned during WrestleMania weekend

As first noted last week by PostWrestling.com’s John Pollock, piledrivers and blood are banned from WrestleMania weekend.

The reason why piledrivers have been banned is because of a significant injury to an independent wrestler in that state a few years ago. I would be interested in finding out if the commission in Louisiana would consider The Undertaker’s Tombstone finisher as a piledriver or if they are just referring to a traditional piledriver where an opponent jumps in the air and drops on his butt with his opponent’s head in between his legs. I also wonder if this rule would apply to The Young Bucks’ Meltzer Driver.

Wrestlers that appear on shows will have to get blood tests and they would need to be sent to the commission ahead of time. They will also be doing physicals before the shows and the commission says that there will be no exceptions to their rules but there will be a ton of events going on during that weekend so it will be tough to enforce everything. Blood tests can be no older than 6 months and should show negative results for HIV, Hepatitis B, and Hepatitis C.
