Details are sketchy right now but, according to fan reports from Madison Square Garden in New York City, AJ Styles appears to be dealing with some sort of leg or ankle injury. Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura were scheduled to take on Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. Before the match got started, Owens and Zayn attacked their opponents.
They attacked Styles’ leg with a chair and the referee reportedly held the “X” sign over his head. Styles was then helped to the back as the match continued. Styles limped back to the ring and things continued as a handicap match but it was kept short and Styles limped back to the ring at the end of the match. WWE doesn’t do injury swerves at house shows so it looks like he was injured at the show or he went into the match with a nagging injury and this was a way to limit the amount of time he spent in the match as a precaution.
