Several WWE Superstars took to Twitter on Tuesday night to thank Kevin Owens for what he said during his opening promo.
For those of you that missed it, click here to watch the promo. Owens basically called out Shane McMahon for taking away TV time from other wrestlers.
The segment was supposed to come across as a shoot but it’s clear that this is just the start of a bigger storyline for Owens now that he is a babyface again. It seems like they are trying to portray him as this generation’s Stone Cold Steve Austin.
For anyone that doubts that this is an angle, WWE retweeted the following tweets during SmackDown Live:

As you can see below, Stone Cold Steve Austin is a fan of Owens using the Stunner on McMahon. Owens began using the move a couple of months ago during his babyface turn and he’s using it now that he is a babyface again.
Austin and Owens are friends and Austin gave his blessing for him to use the move.
Somebody’s gotta do it. Yeah, I tagged myself in…RT @WWE: Arrive.
