The latest on status of this year’s WWE SummerSlam

This year’s WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view event is getting closer as it’s scheduled to take place in August.

Although WWE originally announced that this show would take place in Boston, MA at the TD Garden, COVID-19 hit and now what to do with the event in regards to a location has become a big talking point.

It’s been reported that WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon is determined to have a live crowd for WWE SummerSlam. Since the outbreak of the virus, WWE has been holding TV tapings and PPV events on a closed set at the Performance Center.

WrestleVotes on Twitter provided the latest on SummerSlam. A few weeks ago, the belief within WWE was that the company would find a way to hold the event with fans.

Now, it’s looking like WWE might be forced to hold the show at the Performance Center. As of this writing, WWE hasn’t made a decision.

“Recently asked for an update on SummerSlam, source said 2 or 3 weeks ago he was certain WWE would find a way to do it w/ an audience. Today, very much unsure. As badly as they don’t want the event at the PC, unfortunately that’s very much on the table. Decision not yet imminent.”

WWE has halted plans to hold events with fans again due to a spike in cases of the virus. However, WWE recently listed a live TV event for Monday Night Raw in September.
