Arn Anderson reveals details on Unabomber gimmick pitched for Luke Harper in WWE

Chris Jericho brought on several guests on this week’s “Talk Is Jericho” to celebrate the life of the late Brodie Lee.

Arn Anderson told a story he heard from creative about Brodie Lee in WWE: “I heard one time that he was told that he doesn’t sound like a Hillbilly and that’s what’s holding him back. He’s too intelligent when he speaks.”

Arn talked about a character he pitched for Brodie Lee when they were both in the WWE: “I had a character for him that would have been awesome. It is as frightening as anybody has been. What about the guy that looks like that, especially when he wore the dirty, dingy, white, wife-beater and it was like a little muddy. What if we got a shot from like some guy sitting in a tree or something and you are shooting in a window, you have a single light bulb, and it really looks like a primitive, almost like I’m expecting the camera to pan down and you have some guy tied up and you’re torturing him or something.  What if that guy is sitting there on a computer and he is rattling away and you made that guy the Unabomber? He’s brilliant. He’s making stuff. He’s going over the injuries that he somehow got a hold of the records of all of the crew and what he is going to attack next and he has a game plan. Because his voice is eloquent, you make him a genius. How scary would that guy have been? Well when I tried to lay that out to creative, they looked at me like I had six heads, as you can imagine.”

FTR’s Dax Harwood shared an experience he had with Brodie Lee: “I think this encapsulates what Brodie is and what his family is. My wife and I had a miscarriage about three years ago. I didn’t tell very many people. I told Cash, and obviously my mom and dad but I didn’t tell anyone in wrestling except for Brodie and Amanda because they kind of went through the same situation. Immediately he called me and immediately Amanda called Maria, my wife. My wife was very embarrassed by that because when that happens to a woman, she thinks she did something wrong. Then I started second guessing too if I could have done something. They let us know that this is normal and that this happens all the time and it has nothing to do with you. It has nothing to do with what you did or didn’t do. They would call for weeks and check up on us. They would send us flowers. They would send us cards and care packages just to make sure that we knew that we did nothing wrong and they went through the same situation and so did millions of other people.  That’s the kind of people he and Amanda are. They care. They really do care. In a world that we come from, where there are so many insecure guys, and you do form friendships and bonds with some guys, but sometimes you don’t know when it’s genuine. I know from the first day I met him until the last day that I talked to him, he was genuine and obviously, Amanda is too. I think maybe the most genuine human being I’ve ever met and I hope fans know that about him.”

Also on this show, Lee’s childhood friend Chris Harrington talked about first meeting Lee 20 years ago and wrestling on backyard shows. Brndi Rhodes recalls when she and Cody first met Lee on the independent scnee, Marko Stunt shares the story of the photo he posted on Instagram, Evil Uno and Stu Grayson talked about what Lee did for The Dark Order, and there were stories from Excalibur, referee Bryce Remsburg, John Silver, Alex Reynolds, Christopher Daniels, and The Young Bucks.
