Early estimate for AEW Revolution PPV buys

This year’s AEW Revolution had an interesting build as the promotion decided to go with MJF defending the World Heavyweight Title against Bryan Danielson in a 60-minute iron man match. It went to a time limit draw before being restarted and MJF going over with the crossface.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that the early estimated pay-per-view buys for the show will fall between 120,000 to 129,000.

Meltzer stated the hope was it would do close to about 137,000 of Full Gear because of the strong word of mouth for the show, causing late buys.

Meltzer wrote, “Right now I’d go with a 120,000 to 129,000 number that will probably grow to just under or a little over 130,000 with late buys.”

The show did take place after the UFC PPV event headlined by Jon Jones, one of the UFC’s biggest draws in his return/heavyweight debut fight.

Last year’s Revolution was the highest PPV buy rate in company history, with an estimated buy rate of up to 170,000, according to Meltzer at the time. That show was headlined by Hangman Page retaining the World Title over Adam Cole in the main event, but it also had the dog collar match between Punk and MJF.
