WWE NXT: New Year’s Evil

Welcome to our live coverage of NXT New Year’s Evil. In the main event, NXT Champion Bron Breakker defends his title against Grayson Waller. There will be a 20-Woman #1 contender Battle Royal with the winner going on to face NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez at Vengeance Day on February 4th. In a gauntlet match, Pretty Deadly will face three teams. If they win, they will get a shot at the NXT Tag Team Champions, The New Day. Donovan Dijak takes on Tony D’Angelo with the winner to get a shot at the North American Champion, Wes Lee. The Creed Brothers (Julius and Brutus) face the team of Indus Sher (Veer Mahann and Sanga). Charley Dempsey takes on Hank Walker.
Tony D’Angelo (with Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo in his corner) against Dijak
The action spilled out of the ring. Dijak threw D’Angelo into Stacks but D’Angelo speared Dijak as we went to the break. During the commercial break Dijak pulled out handcuffs and cuffed Stacks outside the ring to the middle rope. D’Angelo was in the corner when Stacks entered the ring still handcuffed to the middle rope telling D’Angelo that he would finish him off and he’ll do anything for him. D’Angelo sacrificed himself when he told Stacks we’re family and threw him down as Dijak was coming in with a big kick which hit D’Angelo for the pinfall.
Interview: Gigi Dolan and Jayce Jayne
Both Dolan and Jayne promised one of them will win the Battle Royal tonight and beat Roxanne Perez at Vengeance Day
The Creed Brothers vs Indus Sheer
Sanga said that Veer Mahann is not here, but he will fight both of them. Jinder Mahal showed up from behind and attacked The Creeds. Mahann joined Jinder in the assault as they laid The Creeds out. Mahal siad Veer and Sanga fight for respect, but he doesn’t.
Backstage
Valentina asked Sanga if this is who we are? Sanga said yes, it’s now about him and his brothers.
Gauntlet Tag Team Match: Pretty Deadly vs The Rockers (Flyin Brian Williams & Slammin’ Jammin’ Jimmy Jackson
Pretty Deadly won the match in under a minute. The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods) came out and told Pretty Deadly they knew they were going to do something like this, so they have two actual tag teams to beat. They introduced Edris Enofe and Malik Blade
Gauntlet Tag Team Match: Pretty Deadly vs Edris Enofe & Malik Blade
Elton Prince went for a suplex, but Enofe countered and rolled him up in a small package. Kit Wilson interfered and pushed Prince that helped Prince to reverse it to score the pinfall. New Day came out again and introduced Josh Briggs and Brooks Jenson. They cut to the backand found them both lying on the ground with chairs around them. Out came Gallus (Mark Coffey and Wolfgang).
Gauntlet Tag Team Match: Pretty Deadly vs Gallus
Vik Joseph said that Gallus’ suspension has been lifted. Wolfgang picked up Wilson on his shoulder and Coffey kicked him and the head allowing Wolfgang to slam Wilson for the pinfall.
Backstage
Julius told Ivy Niles that he’s going to knock Mahal’s teeth down his throat. Ivy said he should be back there with his brother who is in the back and injured.
They showed Carmello Hayes and Trick Williams in a restaurant. Mello said the NXT doesn’t have Apollo Crew’s name on it. It has Mello’s name on it.
Interview: Tiffany Stratton
Tiffany Stratton came to the ring to announce she is back. She said nobody in NXT can compare to her.
Outside the arena
Kayden Carter and Katana Chance said they are the longest reigning NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions.
NXT Championship Match: Bron Breakker (c) vs Grayson Waller
Waller charged into Breakker into the corner and the middle rope broke heading into the commercial break. The ring ropes were repaired during the picture and picture commercial break. Waller went to the second rope and again the rope broke sending him outside the ring. The referee started counting Waller out. Waller made it to his feet at the count of 9, but collapsed. The ref counted 10. Winner of the match by count out, Bron Breakker.
Interview: Roxanne Perez
Perez was asked if she was rooting for anybody in the Battle Royal. She said 20 women, but only 1 can win.
Backstage
Axiom thanked Apollo Crews for saving him last week. Crews and Axiom said they were going to make some calls to face Carmello Hayes and Trick Williams.
Hank Walker (with Drew Gulak in his corner) vs Charlie Dempsey
Walker had Dempsey in an arm stretch but Dempsey reversed it into a STF which forced Walker to submit.
Backstage
Alba Fyre approached Sol Ruca. Fyre said they never did get to have the one on one match and she feel like she owes her that. Ruca said she doesn’t owe her anything. Fyre seemed iritated and said do you want the match or not? Ruca said yes and Fyre apologized saying she has a lot going on obviously this week and then next week.
Video Package: Tyler Bates announced he will be back next week
Jinder Mahal (with Sanga in his corner) vs Julius Creed
Mahal was pounding on Creed but Creed managed to pick up Mahal and suplexed him. Creed went to the top rop, tried to hit a shooting star press, but Mahal rolled out of the way. Mahal hit a side kick to the jaw. Mahal put the cobra clutch on him and slammed him while he had it on for the pin.
Backstage
We see Brooks Jenson comforting Kiana James and Josh Briggs with Fallon Henley. Briggs and Jenson said they will get revenge on Gallus.
Stevie Turner from NXT U.K. announced that she is coming to NXT
Announced for next week is Carmello Hayes and Trick Williams vs Axiom and Apollo Crews. Also Josh Briggs and Brooks Jenson vs Gallus
20 Woman Battle Royal
Cora Jade, Gigi Dolan, Jacy Jayne, Ivy Nile, Tatum Paxley, Jakara Jackson, Dani Palmer, Valentina Feroz, Zoey Stark, Kiana James, Elektra Lopez, Lash Legend, Amari Miller, Sol Ruca, Wendy Choo, Indi Hartwell, Fallon Henley, Nikkita Lyons, Lyra Valkyria, Thea Hail
Valkyria immediately threw out Cora Jade. Toxic Attraction tried to eliminate Sol Ruca, however, Roca landed on her hands. She then walked on her hand to the other side of the ring and pulled herself up back in the ring. Several of the participants were eliminated during the commercial break. Lyons eliminated Lopez. Stark managed to throw Choo out of the ring, but Choo landed on her pillow. Lopez then pulled the pillow out from underneath Choo’s feet which eliminated her. Stark clotheslined Lyons over the top rope. Roca threw Stark over the top rope. Fyre then eliminated Roca. Valkyria eliminated Fyre. Cora Jade ran out to try to eliminate Valkyria but missed a clothesline. Toxic Attraction then eliminated a distracted Valkyria. Jade continued the attack on Valkyria while the last two participants in the ring were Toxic Attraction. Jacy Jayne raised Gigi Dolan’s hand and was acting like she was going to eliminate herself while Gigi told her to stop. Jacy immediately turned around and kicked Gigi in the stomach and tried to throw her over the top rope. Jacy and Gigi were both battling on the outside ring apron. They continued to punch each other. Both fell to the mat from the punches. One official said Jacy won. The other official said Gigi won. They went to the replay and determined it was a tie and named them co-winners of the Battle Royal. Roxanne Perez came out holding the NXT Women’s Championship while Jacy and Gigi stood in the ring with their hands held high. It was announced that Perez will defend the NXT Women’s Championship against both Jacy and Gigi in a triple threat match at Vengeance.
Backstage
Shawn Michaels was sitting at the table with Bron Breakker and Grayson Waller. Michaels said this is not the way anybody wanted their match to end, so at Vengeance, they will have a rematch inside a steel cage for the NXT Championship.
