AEW Star Says Injury Is Not Recovering As Expected

AEW star Buddy Matthews has provided an update on his recovery from an ankle injury, revealing that the process is progressing slower than he had hoped. Matthews has been out of action since February after getting hurt during his entrance at Grand Slam Australia.

Despite the injury, Matthews competed in his scheduled match against Kazuchika Okada in front of his home country fans. He did not break his ankle, but suffered significant ligament and cartilage damage. His original goal was to be back in the ring by April, but that has not been possible.

During a recent Instagram Live session, Matthews expressed his frustration with the lack of progress.

“The ankle is not recovering as well as I thought it would be. There’s no mobility to it, if I can’t have mobility, I can’t move properly,” Matthews said. “Once it hits three months without healing, it becomes chronic. I thought I’d be back in the ring in April.“

The injury came as the House of Black (Matthews, Brody King & Julia Hart) were working to regain momentum following Malakai Black’s departure from the company. We wish him a speedy recovery.
