Big Bill Removed From AEW Roster Page Ahead Of Expected WWE Return

Big Bill has been removed from AEW’s roster page, the latest sign that his run with the promotion is over and his WWE return is imminent.

Big Cass, as he was known during his first WWE run, is officially headed back to the company. On Monday’s WWE Raw, a vignette aired featuring a silhouette of Cass and the date August 3, which is the Raw after SummerSlam, set for Des Moines, Iowa.

The video did not name him outright, but the references were clear, from SAWFT signs to fans wearing his old merchandise in the background, along with audio of former tag team partner Enzo Amore reciting his “and you can’t teach that” catchphrase. A voiceover, presumably Cass, asked, “What happens when the whole world calls you can’t miss? What happens when the world is wrong?” before the silhouette appeared with an “8/3” graphic.

The return has been building for weeks. Fightful Select reported in June that Big Bill had given notice to AEW with his contract expiring, and that he was set to return to WWE and reunite with Amore as a tag team, with the company also planning to sign Amore.

Amore, who has been a free agent, was spotted at the WWE Performance Center in May, and reports indicated WWE waited for Big Bill to become available before finalizing the reunion.

Enzo and Cass were one of the most popular acts of the mid-2010s, teaming in NXT beginning in 2013 before moving to the main roster. They split in 2017, with Amore released in early 2018 and Cass following later that year. The pair never won WWE tag team gold together.

Cass competed in AEW as Big Bill starting in 2022, where he won the AEW World Tag Team Championship alongside Ricky Starks. He was previously with WWE from 2011 to 2018.
