Brian Pillman Jr. to wrestle on AEW Dark, update on his MLW status

Brian Pillman Jr. is slated to work another match under the AEW banner.

All Elite Wrestling announced on Sunday morning that he’ll take on Shawn Spears in a singles match on Tuesday’s episode of AEW Dark, which will air on AEW’s YouTube channel.

It turns out that this is his second match in AEW as Pillman was a participant in a battle royal at last year’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view event.

This match announcement came after he was seen backstage in his gear at Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite TV event, which served as Fyter Fest night one. He was also spotted in the crowd and even created some buzz among fans by sharing a photo of himself on the stage.

As a result, it got fans wondering what his status is with MLW. ProWrestling.net reports that Pillman is still under contract with MLW. However, Pillman’s MLW deal was signed prior to the formation of AEW.

This means that due to the terms of that contract, it allows him to work for AEW in addition to his remaining MLW dates. Major League Wrestling does have first dibs to book him whenever there are conflicting dates.

Due to COVID-19, that’s not an issue as MLW isn’t holding shows right now. The report added that Pillman is the only MLW contracted wrestler working under one of the older agreements.
