Sammy Guevara Addresses His Lack Of AEW TV Time: ‘That’s Obviously Not My Call’

Sammy Guevara would not mind showing up on AEW Dynamite more often, but he says that decision is out of his hands.

Asked by MuscleManMalcolm about fans wanting to see him on Dynamite more, Guevara, who has spent much of the past year working in Ring of Honor and CMLL rather than on AEW’s flagship show, kept it simple.

“Honestly, man, that’s obviously not my call,” Guevara said.

He pointed to his most recent AEW appearance, a World title match against Darby Allin on the May 16 Collision, saying he had little time to prepare.

“Whenever they do decide to call, I think the last time I was on AEW was when I wrestled Darby [Allin] for the World title. I was given a couple hours notice, and I just tried to do the best that I could, you know?” Guevara said.

Even with the short notice, Guevara said he treats every appearance the same way.

“Anytime I go out there, I try to give you a show like you’ve never seen before. Because that’s what I do. I’m Sammy Guevara, ‘The Spanish God.’ I think I’m the best, so, yeah,” Guevara said.

Guevara has been an AEW original since the company’s 2019 founding, but he has been used sparingly on AEW television of late, appearing more often in ROH, where he held the ROH World Tag Team Championship, and in CMLL.
