Tony Khan has addressed whether he has any interest in purchasing TNA Wrestling.
During AEW’s pre-Forbidden Door media call on Thursday, the AEW president was asked by Wrestlenomics’ Brandon Thurston about his level of interest in TNA, should the promotion become available, as had been rumored this week. When Khan asked what the price would be, Thurston floated a figure of $40 million. Khan responded with a flat “No” and a laugh.
From there, Khan offered a more measured take. He acknowledged that TNA has value, but stressed that any acquisition would have to come at the right price. He described it as not a top priority for him at the moment and not a matter he has had any serious conversations about. Khan added that it could be interesting if the purchase price were right, noting that the same could be said for many things in life.
Khan is no stranger to acquiring wrestling companies. Since founding AEW in 2019, he has made one such purchase, buying ROH in 2022. He continues to operate ROH today, with weekly programming on the WatchROH streaming service and periodic special events throughout the year.
Khan’s appetite for expansion has been documented on a much larger scale as well. Earlier this year, it was revealed through court filings that a company backed by Khan had placed a roughly $6.9 billion bid to purchase WWE during its 2023 sale process, an effort that was ultimately won by Endeavor.
