Major Stipulation Added to Triplemania Regia Main Event

The main event for this weekend’s Lucha Libre AAA Triplemania Regia has been changed, as the AAA Mega Championship match between champion El Hijo del Vikingo and challenger Alberto El Patron will now be contested inside a steel cage. The event takes place this Sunday, June 15, in Monterrey, Mexico.

The addition of the steel cage stipulation was confirmed by AAA after it was requested by Alberto El Patron. The rivalry was further escalated at a press conference yesterday when El Patron attacked Vikingo to build anticipation for their match.

This will be the second time the two have faced off for the title in as many weeks. At a AAA event on Saturday, May 31, El Hijo del Vikingo defeated El Patron to win the championship for a second time. That title change occurred just before AAA’s Worlds Collide event with WWE.

Following his title win, Vikingo went on to represent AAA at Worlds Collide last weekend, where he successfully defended the AAA Mega Championship against WWE’s Chad Gable (as El Grande Americano) in the main event of that show. His title defense against El Patron this Sunday will be another major test early in his new reign.

The Triplemania Regia card is stacked with inter-promotional and championship matches. In other featured bouts, TNA X-Division Champion Moose will defend his title against Joe Hendry, El Mesias, and Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. in a four-way match. Additionally, the AAA Tag Team titles will be on the line as champions Forastero & Sanson face three other teams: Angel & Berto, Psycho Clown & Pagano, and Nic & Ryan Nemeth.

There are currently no U.S. broadcast plans announced for the Triplemania Regia event. The show will air in Mexico on the Max streaming service and on the Space channel.
