Jay White defeated Kenny Omega to win the IWGP United States Champion at New Japan Pro Wrestling’s New Beginning Day 2 show from Saporro, Japan. It was an excellent match that was Omega dominating until the final few minutes when Jay White was able to come back with some offense and then ultimately hitting the Bladerunner finisher.
After the match, Omega handed the title over to White. There was an argument between Adam Page and Omega and Cody Rhodes ran down to seemingly calm things down. Things got heated when they started to shove each other and Omega accidentally pushed Matt Jackson.
It looked like things were settled between Omega and Rhodes but Rhodes attacked Omega with the Cross Rhodes just as Omega was about to leave the ring. Marty Scurll tried to stop Rhodes but Page held Omega as Rhodes was about to hit him with a chair. The heels scattered as Kota Ibushi ran into the ring to save his long-time friend and former tag team partner Omega.
I presume this means that we’ll see Omega and Rhodes soon, perhaps at the Strong Style Evolve show that takes place in March in California.
