CM Punk Taped an Interview for ESPN, Some People in AEW Won’t Be Happy About It

As was noted earlier, there is some CM Punk news that is about to drop some time within the next 24 hours and some people in AEW won’t be happy about it.

During his PWTorch audio show at PWTorchVIP.com, Wade Keller said, “I am under the impression between now and Saturday, there’s going to be something that comes out that media wise that is not gonna help matters, probably. I don’t mean to be cryptic but I haven’t heard the details or seen enough to say much but yea, I just don’t know. I just think it’s gonna be one of those weeks, I’ll put it that way…From what I’m hearing behind the scenes in AEW, it’s just gonna be one of those weeks.”

Bryan Alvarez later posted on the F4W Board the following about Punk: “Taped ESPN interview that I’m told will make a lot of people upset. Comes out Friday”

Fightful Select reported today that Punk discussed a number of things during his interview with ESPN and one of those topics was about The Elite but what was said by Punk was reportedly done in a way that would “blur the lines” and help create buzz for some upcoming shows.

Fightul Select added that they were told that Punk answered questions in a way that would make the audience wonder if he was shooting or “angling for a story” and Punk was very aware that what he said would come across as polarizing. There is more on this at Fightful Select.

It is fair to say that if Punk and The Elite could secretly work things out and turn their issues into a storyline, it could lead to an increase in AEW’s TV ratings and attendance. There is no indication that they have talked things out but it sounds like the ESPN interview might lead some fans to make the conclusion that there’s a possibility for both sides to work together at some point…or at the very least, Punk might be open to the idea.
