Matt Riddle is in strong demand and it’s not just from the wrestling world. It’s also from boxing and MMA promotions due to his background as an MMA fighter before transitioning into pro wrestling.
Riddle was released among several other names as part of mass WWE talent releases that hit the main roster and NXT hard. Before that happened, WWE had paired Riddle with Drew McIntyre as a tag team on Raw.
As previously reported, WWE had plans for them to introduce McRiddle merchandise. Before that merchandise could be created and sold, WWE released Riddle. Days before his departure, he was also in the headlines due to controversy.
Riddle had an incident at JFK Airport, where he accused a Port Authority police officer of sexual assault. Footage of it was released that shows an apparent Riddle drunk at the airport while waiting on his flight, which you can see here.
In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that Riddle’s people are in talks with several companies, but he can’t sign with anyone until his non-compete ends in December.
Meltzer wrote, “Regarding Matt Riddle, his people have already been in talks with a number of pro wrestling, MMA and boxing companies regarding working there. The only two that have come out are PFL and Bare Knuckle Boxing. Nothing can be announced until December when his non-compete ends, and yes, his non-compete does extend to MMA and boxing.”
