Arn Anderson shared his thoughts on two of WWE’s top stars, Drew McIntyre and GUNTHER, during the latest episode of his ARN podcast.
Asked for his assessment of McIntyre, Anderson came away impressed with how far the Scotsman has come. “I think Drew’s figured out this business and is a pretty damn good worker,” Anderson said. “He’s really evolved into being a ring general and does some pretty good stuff. I’m a fan of Drew. He looks the part.”
Anderson did recall one stretch that he felt nearly hurt McIntyre, when the big man slimmed down too much earlier in his WWE run. “He went through a period with WWE where he got real skinny. It took away from his ability to work and get over,” Anderson said. “I think he just was trying to look as good as he possibly could, but he got too skinny. It almost derailed him.”
Turning to GUNTHER, Anderson made it clear he is a fan of The Ring General’s hard-hitting style. “Gunther, he’s a crowbar, which I like. I like solid work,” Anderson said. He compared GUNTHER to a stiff competitor from his own era. “You don’t have a lot of people say, ‘I like working with Ronnie Garvin,’ because he beat the crap out of you, and it was up to you to find your way back. That’s kind of the same thing with Gunther. You got to fight him. It makes you earn what you get.”
