Austin Theory Felt Cheated Of His Money In The Bank Payoff ·

Austin Theory feels he was robbed of a proper payoff during his Money in the Bank run, and he wishes his showdown with Roman Reigns had been built up further.

Speaking on Impaulsive, Theory was asked if he felt cheated out of a successful Money in the Bank cash-in. “Yes,” he answered, before pointing to a confrontation with Reigns. Theory recalled Reigns cutting him down with a pointed line during the angle.

“Even with the moment I had with Roman, I believe it was at maybe Barclays Center, and he hit me with the ‘your daddy’s not here anymore,'” Theory said, adding that he wanted to fire the same shot right back. “In that moment, I wanted to say the same thing to him, you know, because in a way it’s like he’s a Vince guy as well.”

Theory made clear he never expected to actually dethrone Reigns, but felt the story deserved a bigger build. “I wasn’t gonna get the title off Roman, but even just building it to seem like, oh, here we go, and then you know I can lose to him, whatever,” he said. “Just give it more of a payoff, because it felt cool, man.”

Despite the lack of a cash-in, Theory has no regrets about his time carrying the briefcase, which now hangs in his office as a battle-worn souvenir.

“I have it in my office hanging, and it’s really dented,” he said. When fans assume he did the damage, he sets the record straight. “They’re like, ‘Bro, you murdered people with that, huh?’ I’m like, ‘No, Brock Lesnar murdered me with it.'”
