Backstage news on who made the decision to make WWE Raw a TV-14 show

Although WWE Raw will not be a TV-14 show this Monday night, plans for the show are not dead for the future.

As previously reported, the memo sent out within USA Network on Thursday about the TV rating changing from PG to TV-14 was apparently sent out prematurely, and the decision was not finalized.

Both Andrew Zarian and Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp reported there were ‘mixed signals’ given internally about the change. A date for the switch has not yet been finalized.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that a “source in WWE said that this looks to be a USA decision and not a WWE decision.” It was pointed out that the news of the change coming from a USA Network internal memo would also indicate that.

USA Network was said to be ‘accepting’ of Brock Lesnar using the word ‘s**tkicking’ on this week’s episode of Raw. When Lesnar said the word, they did a sound edit. It’s unclear whether Lesnar saying this had anything to do with the show having a TV-14 rating, but the timing of it being approved is notable.
