Triple H and Nick Khan were the primary decision-makers behind WWE’s post-WrestleMania 42 roster cuts, according to Fightful, with TKO not the driving force behind the releases, despite contrary speculation.
Fightful reported that WWE Chief Content Officer Paul Levesque, WWE President Nick Khan, and WWE talent relations were responsible for the decisions. Sources within WWE told Fightful that most of the releases were made to make way for new talent, while the possibility of SmackDown returning to two hours in the near future was cited as another contributing factor. Bodyslam has reported that SmackDown will switch back to two hours within the next few weeks.
On the main roster, the releases included the entire Wyatt Sicks faction, Alba Fyre, Zoey Stark, Aleister Black, Zelina Vega, Apollo Crews, the Motor City Machine Guns, Kairi Sane, and Santos Escobar.
NXT releases included Dante Chen, Tyson Dupont, Tyriek Igwe, Andre Chase, Chris Island, Tyra Mae Steele, Sirena Linton, Trill London, Malik Blade, Luca Crusifino, and Carlee Bright. New signings at the WWE Performance Center are expected to be announced soon.
In total, 25 wrestlers were released by WWE on Friday, April 24.
