REPORT: Kairi Sane’s Release Causes Heavy Frustration In WWE

Kairi Sane’s release from WWE has generated significant frustration internally, with sources describing the decision as a shock given her involvement in an active storyline.

According to Fightful Select, there was a ton of shock within WWE over Sane’s departure, given her role in the ongoing program between Asuka and IYO SKY. Her release before any meaningful payoff to the feud resulted in heavy frustration among those within the company.

Sane addressed fans following news of her release, writing: “I’m truly grateful to have people like you by my side. Thank you for always being with me. I’ll set sail in my own time. Until then, I love you.”

The release sparked immediate fan backlash, with the hashtag WeWantKairi circulating on social media. WWE backstage interviewer Jackie Redmond also posted in response to the news before quickly deleting her tweet.

Sane was in her second WWE run, having returned to the company in 2023. During that stretch she added two more reigns with the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships to her record, winning the belts again alongside Asuka as the Kabuki Warriors. She was among 25 wrestlers released by WWE on April 24 in the post-WrestleMania 42 roster cuts.
