Braun Strowman is a huge part of the WWE Universe at this point and many couldn’t imagine the company without him. But there was a time when he was just another massive dude touring the strongman competition circuit.
The Monster Among Men recently spoke to Busted Open Radio about one man who he really credits for bringing him into WWE and it turns out they share much of the same origin story.
“Truth be told, I wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for Mark Henry. I traveled around the world doing strongman competitions. That’s the first time I met Mark, back in 2010 when I competed as an amateur. I introduced myself and said I’ve always been a fan of his in WWE and what he’s done in the strength sports world. We sparked a friendship from there and he pretty much turned WWE’s eyes on me. Low and behold, here we are today.”
Although the two didn’t have much to do with each other on WWE television it makes even more sense that Mark Henry was used to put Braun Strowman over on Raw last year. As it turns out this was probably more of a symbolic gesture than most might have initially perceived it.
