The Netflix version of WWE Night of Champions has drawn attention for how it handled blood during the Steel Cage Match between Seth Rollins and Bron Breakker.
At Night of Champions, held June 27 at Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Breakker was busted open and bled from a cut near his left eye during the match, which Rollins won. On the Netflix version of the event, Breakker’s head was blurred out at certain points to obscure the blood. In clips shared during the show, including by ESPN, his face was not blurred and the blood was visible.
The edit quickly circulated on social media and drew criticism, with many fans calling it excessive and describing the blurred head as artificial-looking.
The approach also stood out because of how WWE has handled similar footage in the past. Rather than blurring, the company has typically switched bloody footage to black and white, both in video and in photos posted to its website. In this case, the entire head was blurred instead.
Content standards can vary by country, so this is the most likely reason why his face was blurred.
On the Netflix replay of #WWENOC, they have decided to blur out Bron Breakker's entire head after he gets busted open. It's both amazing and one of the stupidest things you'll see today. pic.twitter.com/Tf0y7WGGyg
