Teddy Long On LA Knight: “I’m Telling You, Man, The Guy’s Got Something”

WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long shared his praise for LA Knight during a recent episode of his podcast, Road Trip After Hours, telling co-host Mac Davis that he believes the WWE star has what it takes to reach the top.

Long, the former SmackDown general manager, was asked which of today’s performers he finds himself drawn to. He pointed to LA Knight without hesitation.

“I always told you I love LA Knight. I’m telling you, man, the guy’s got something,” Long said. He added that he sees Knight as someone who could “certainly be that guy,” while admitting he wasn’t sure what had held him back so far.

The conversation then turned to a common criticism of Knight, that he leans too heavily on catchphrases. Davis noted that the same was often said of The Rock, who built one of the biggest careers in wrestling history on memorable one-liners.

Long did not see the reliance on catchphrases as a problem. “This is entertainment. That’s what this is,” he said. He also defended Knight’s in-ring work, adding, “He’s not the best guy in the ring, but he’s sure not bad.”
