Candice Michelle Thinks In-Ring Return Is ‘Coming Soon’

Candice Michelle believes her return to the ring is close, and says the backstage job she took with TNA in January was the first step toward it.

Michelle has not wrestled since December 2017, when she beat Victoria on an independent show. She left WWE in 2009 following injury, having won the Women’s Championship two years earlier as the first Diva Search winner to do so.

Speaking to The Wrestling Classic, she was asked about getting back in the ring.

“You know, I think it’s coming soon. I started my comeback as an agent, which is really cool because I get to relearn the philosophy. I get to learn the behind-the-scenes, slowly getting my feet wet a little bit. And pretty soon we’ll slide on in.”

TNA announced her signing on March 13 in a backstage role as an agent and producer, posting video of her putting pen to paper alongside Tommy Dreamer and company president Carlos Silva. It was her first wrestling contract since leaving WWE.

The work had already started by then. Dreamer offered her the job and her first show was in January, with Michelle shadowing him for one weekend before being turned loose as an agent the next.

She has been building toward this answer for months. In March she described the TNA call as her hope spot and said she thought it would lead to a comeback. Speaking on Rob Van Dam’s podcast in late July, she said she had known she wanted to get back in the ring from the first day she stood beside it as an agent, but that she did not want to come back simply to chase a title, and that the process was getting closer.

Nothing has been announced. TNA has not confirmed a match, an opponent or a date.
