CM Punk will challenge Grayson Waller for the NXT Championship on Wednesday’s episode of NXT.
Punk made the announcement in a video that aired at the end of NXT Halloween Havoc on Saturday night at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. Danhausen, the show’s host, introduced him. Punk was not at the show.
“Up here, bud. Pay attention, because you’ve been running your mouth about me specifically for weeks, saying I need to ask you permission to come into your house because you run NXT. Well, I’ve waited patiently, and I wanted to see how you and Tony would shake out,” Punk said. “Now that you’re still NXT Champion, buddy, hold on to that belt tight, because I’m coming. November 4th, it is CM Punk versus Grayson Waller for the NXT Title. And you say that NXT is your house? Kid, I’m the landlord, and Wednesday, the rent is due.”

Waller retained the NXT Championship against Tony D’Angelo in the main event. After a referee bump, Waller hit D’Angelo with a crowbar and pinned him with the Rolling Thunder Stunner. It was Waller’s second successful defense since he won the title at Heatwave on August 30.
Waller has been calling out Punk since August. He confronted Punk backstage after an NXT live event in Petersburg, Virginia, on August 15, and WWE NXT posted video of the exchange two days later. Earlier this week, Waller told Chris Van Vliet that he would go head to head with Punk: “I’m going to. It’s happening.”
NXT moves from Tuesday to Wednesday, November 4, because The CW is airing election coverage on Tuesday night. That puts the show head to head with AEW Dynamite: Blood & Guts, which takes place at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida.
