JBL says he would be interested in a creative role with WWE, but he wants no part of being an agent.

A listener asked JBL on Something to Wrestle whether he would ever step into a creative or agent role with WWE.

“Not an agent, no. Good lord, no. Hell no. Creative, yeah, yeah. It hasn’t been offered, and there’s no talk of it,” JBL said. “But yeah, creative, I’d be interested in. But agent, absolutely not.”

He joked that WWE would “probably” make him an agent next week, and said the way matches are put together now is not how he worked.

“It’s fun talking over matches. It’s just these guys with matches today. You got to go over it with them from like start to finish. And I never did a match that way,” JBL said.

“But you have to outline everything for them, which I understand because agents are now the most important thing. Well, not the most important thing, but one of the most important things in the company because these guys are not used to working on the road like we did,” he continued. “So you have to outline stuff, you know, from A to Z.”

JBL on his chances vs. Vince Russo

Co-host Conrad Thompson asked who is more likely to be in WWE Creative in 2027, Vince Russo or JBL.

“I would bet on either, but I would think that I think I would have a better chance. I don’t think there’s any chance I will, but I think I’d have a better chance than Vince,” JBL said.

Earlier in the episode, JBL put the odds of Russo becoming head of WWE Creative at “zero,” though he said bringing Russo in for ideas would not be out of the question.

“So to bring Russo in or something like that, I don’t think it’s out of a realm of possibility. Would he be the head of creative? No, I don’t think so,” JBL said. “I think Triple H is, my opinion is, and [Nick Khan] doing a great job.”

Thompson recently reported that Nick Khan had talks with Russo. Fightful Select reported that many in WWE had not heard about the talks until Thompson’s column.

When Thompson asked what would happen if JBL and Bruce Prichard switched roles, JBL pointed out, “Bruce is retiring.” Prichard is expected to step down as WWE’s Executive Director of Creative Writing & Talent after WrestleMania 43, and Shawn Michaels is expected to take over the role, according to PWInsider.

JBL, a WWE Hall of Famer and former WWE Champion, works as a color commentator for WWE-owned AAA and co-hosts Something to Wrestle with Thompson.
