Cyndi Lauper may finally be inching toward her long-awaited WWE Hall of Fame induction.
The two-time Grammy winner was a big part behind WWE’s 1980s boom, yet she has never been inducted into the Hall of Fame, despite being one of the most requested names by fans for years. That could be changing. According to Wrestlevotes Radio on Fightful Select, the relationship between Lauper and WWE has strengthened, making an induction more likely than ever.
There are caveats. The report notes that an induction likely would not happen as soon as 2027, and that the relationship at the moment is limited to licensing, with more planned down the line.
The renewed connection was on display this week with the announcement of Lauper’s first-ever WWE action figure. Mattel Creations revealed a WWE Elite 3-Pack as a San Diego Comic-Con 2026 exclusive, featuring Lauper alongside “Rowdy” Roddy Piper and Captain Lou Albano, recreating the famous Piper’s Pit segment that helped kick off the Rock ‘N’ Wrestling Connection. The $80 set debuts at SDCC before going on sale July 23 through MattelCreations.com.
Lauper’s importance to WWE’s national rise is hard to overstate. Her friendship with Albano, who played her father in the “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” music video, blossomed into the Rock ‘N’ Wrestling Connection, bringing MTV and the music world into wrestling. She managed Wendi Richter to the Women’s Championship at the inaugural WrestleMania in 1985, and made a memorable return to Raw in 2012, but has not appeared for the company since.
