Former Boxing Heavyweight Champion claims WWE offered him some big money to fight Brock Lesnar

Former Heavyweight Boxing Champion Lennox Lewis told Michael Landsberg while appearing on TSN’s Off the Record on Tuesday that he was very close to signing with WWE in 2002 to fight Brock Lesnar.

According to Lewis, the idea was to do an Ali vs. Inoki-style boxer vs. wrestler match. WWE was willing to give him ÂŁ5 million to fight “The Next Big Thing.”

The deal fell through once WWE pitched the idea of him wearing gloves and Brock wouldn’t.

“Wrestling Brock Lesnar, is one thing. Wrestling Brock Lesnar without the ability to grab anything, but he can grab you and throw you backwards onto your head all he wants, is completely different.”
