Gunnar Eudy Says His Father Sid Vicious Was Disrespected At The WWE Hall Of Fame Ceremony In Las Vegas

Gunnar Eudy, the son of the late Sid Eudy, has publicly criticized WWE’s handling of his father’s Hall of Fame induction, calling the ceremony “disappointing and disrespectful” and accusing the company of treating the two-time WWE Champion as an afterthought.

In a Facebook post the morning after the ceremony, Gunnar said the induction felt rushed and that WWE failed to properly honor his father’s legacy.

“Last night’s so-called ‘Hall of Fame induction’ for my father, Sid Eudy, ‘Sycho Sid,’ ‘Sid Vicious,’ was straight up disappointing and disrespectful as hell. I’m glad my dad was big enough to put himself over even in death, because WWE damn sure wouldn’t.”

Gunnar pointed to a lack of merchandise and promotion for his father compared to other inductees. He said there were no advertisements for Sid anywhere in Las Vegas during WrestleMania week, and that the Hall of Fame gift shop had no merchandise for his father at all while being stocked with Dennis Rodman products.

“I didn’t see one single ad for him here in Vegas. The Hall of Fame gift shop had zero merch for my dad, not a damn thing. But they were loaded with all the Dennis Rodman crap you could want. It felt like they just swept him under the rug like a footnote, rushing to get him out of the way.”

He also took aim at what he described as jealous former colleagues who he believes prevented his father from receiving a full induction earlier.

“Maybe if we had waited another 20 years until all those jealous, insecure ex-colleagues were gone, you know the ones who could never match his athletic ability, his looks, or his unbreakable willpower to tell them ‘no,’ he would’ve finally gotten the full induction he actually deserved.”

Despite his frustration, Gunnar said bringing his son to the ceremony gave the night meaning.

“I’m trying to stay positive for my son’s sake. I got to bring him, and he doesn’t know they did his grandpa dirty. He just got to see his hero honored. That moment with my boy made it worth it.”

He closed by congratulating fellow inductees Bad News Brown and Demolition.

“Rest in power, Dad. The Master and Ruler of the World got his flowers, even if WWE tried to shortchange you one last time. They were always jealous. Congratulations to Bad News Brown and Sid Vicious and Demolition.”

Sid Eudy passed away on August 26, 2024 at the age of 63 after battling non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Known as “The Master and Ruler of the World,” he was a two-time WWE Champion and two-time WCW World Heavyweight Champion who headlined two WrestleMania events, facing Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania VIII in 1992 and The Undertaker at WrestleMania 13 in 1997.

He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as a legacy inductee as part of the Class of 2026. Legacy inductees are recognized at the ceremony but are not allotted time for speeches, unlike traditional Hall of Famers. The Class of 2026 also includes Stephanie McMahon, AJ Styles, Dennis Rodman, Demolition, and Bad News Brown. The Immortal Moment for the class was the Hulk Hogan vs. Andre the Giant match from WrestleMania III.
