It looks like we are closer to seeing Hulk Hogan back in the fold with WWE. Hogan is scheduled to appear this coming Thursday at the Los Angeles premiere for the HBO documentary on Andre The Giant. This is a joint event presented by HBO and WWE so it looks like we are closer to seeing Hogan back on WWE television. Hogan was also interviewed as part of the documentary.
Hogan was released from his WWE ambassador contract in 2015 after the National Enquirer published a transcript of Hogan using the N-word on the infamous sex tape from 12 years ago. Hogan later apologized on ABC’s “Good Morning America” and said that he doesn’t have a racist bone in his body. He attributed his use of the word to the way he grew up because it was a word that people around him used all of the time.
WWE never closed the door on a potential return but bringing him back into the fold depended on the reaction from their sponsors. A few weeks ago, Mark Henry said that he would welcome Hogan back if he apologized to the WWE locker room.
Earlier this week, word got out that Hogan and WWE have been in talks in recent weeks. In response to the story, WWE issued the following statement: “We have had discussions with Terry Bollea (aka Hulk Hogan) about how he can help others learn from his mistakes, however, he is not under any contract with WWE.”
